THE DREAM SANCTUARY

Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West and Fallingwater, this $5.3M coastal retreat was designed in 2001 by a local architect, Norah Elliott Crawford and her husband, as their dream sanctuary.

Cedar shingles have since weathered to a silvery patina that blends into the hillside while expansive windows pull in views of Angel Island and the shifting light across the Bay. A breezeway links the main living area to a quiet office, and updated living spaces honor the original design while enhancing natural flow. Thoughtful touches like a steam shower and herb garden echo the coastal setting, and a private beach below offers a way to launch a kayak or end the day around a fire. Minutes from downtown Tiburon, it's a home that holds its history yet feels timeless in its connection to land, water and air.

Creative Director Taylor Sassa took a coastal contemporary approach, choosing calming natural tones that keep the focus on the water and make every room feel instantly inviting. Furniture was selected to support the views rather than compete with them, encouraging buyers to imagine settling in from the moment they walk through the door. One standout space is the transformed guest room, now a second living area with beautiful western views where the Mino sectional lends to a quiet, sun-washed mood. Surf art and organic textures echo the home's rhythm of tides and shadow, creating a design that feels completely at home in its surroundings.
