VILLA DORADA

On the market for the first time in 53 years, Villa Dorada is a meticulously preserved 1929 Spanish Revival estate tucked on a rare flat cul-de-sac in historic Outpost Estates.

Its 7,400 square feet unfold across three levels with sweeping views from the Hollywood Sign to Downtown and out to the Pacific. Original magnesite floors, hand-carved doors, period tilework and even a wood-paneled elevator feels straight out of Los Angeles’ Golden Age. Four spacious en-suite bedrooms, a two-bedroom staff quarters, a ballroom with a fireplace, a step-down parlor with a built-in bar and multiple terraces make it easy to imagine the home’s storied past—Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Van Heusen and Bela Lugosi among its residents—and equally easy to picture its next chapter.

To honor that legacy while giving the home a fresh point of view, Vesta Home senior designer Ryan Worthington pulled tones from the original fireplace tiles and introduced elegant pieces, warm woods and layered textures that feel modern without ever overshadowing the vintage details. The living room’s Volos stool and Torri dining chairs nod to the home’s retro glamour, while terraces and balconies were styled as spots to linger—from morning coffee with Griffith Observatory in view to sunset cocktails as the city lights up below. The result is a singular chance to step into a piece of history that still feels completely of the moment.
