THE PRIVATE OBSERVATORY

Spanning the entire 78th floor, this 6,366-square-foot condominium lives like a private observatory above the city. The full-floor residence is accessed by two private elevators that open directly to the home. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrap every room, revealing views of the skyline and bridges beyond, framing the city like a panoramic work of art.

Vesta Home senior designer Melinda Wolrab created an environment that preserves sightlines, allowing each room's distinct portrait of the city to remain the focus. Low-profile furnishings with strong horizontal lines, such as the Sadie Sectional Sofa, keep the skyline anchored at eye level. Mirrors in the main living and dining area reflect the skyline and amplify natural light, allowing the view to move with you throughout the space. A palette of ivories, taupes and muted grays—expressed through wood, linen, velvet, bouclé, silk and marble, with subtle metal accents—adds warmth and texture against the home’s Venetian plaster and polished marble finishes. In the primary bedroom, a custom wallpaper mural adds a sense of movement, while a tailored headboard tucks into the curved wall, orienting the bed toward Central Park.
