A LOFT WITH SOUL + SCALE
This grand duplex loft previously owned by a sculptor marries early 20th-century pedigree with modern ease. A sweeping staircase anchors the double-height living room where original windows draw in southern light and frame the room’s wood-burning fireplace. Through custom steel casement doors, the kitchen extends into a butler’s pantry and walk-in wine cellar. Upstairs, a mezzanine library overlooks the great room and leads to a primary suite with its own fireplace and spa-like bath.
Vesta Home senior designer Seth McCaughey set out to honor the home’s artistic legacy and historical bones while bringing a distinctly new perspective to its design. He took cues from the loft's soaring proportions and brick fireplaces, grounding its volume in a warm palette of greys, creams and a mix of organic materials such as oak and deep stone. Pieces like the Turin Dining Table echo the geometry of the casement windows and architectural staircase, giving the home a collected character that feels quietly bold and utterly personal.
